Candles have been used for centuries as a source of light and heat. They have an embedded wick and consist of solid block of fuel. Traditionally, candle manufacturers are known as chandlers. Various types of devices have been invented to hold various types of candles.

Types of Candles

There are different types of candles such as yankee candles, scented candles, wall candles, aromatherapy candles, birthday candles, soy candles, tapers, pillars and holiday candles. Candles also make a beautiful centrepiece or chandelier. There are as many types of candle holders as there are candles.

Aromatherapy candles come in various scents such as patchouli, frankincense, orange, lemon, lavender, bergamot and lime. These scented candles add to the atmosphere and beauty of any room. They enhance the disparate activities such as romantic dinners, social evenings and just casual evenings at home.

Floating candles look absolutely stunning if coupled with right kind of bowl and other decorations. There are various colour combinations that can be worked on and candles can be coupled with some fresh flowers to add little scent in the room. Bowls come in various shapes and sizes and you can choose the one that matches with the décor of the room and also is of the appropriate size.

There is also white and black sand available that is used as a cradle for pillar candle. This sand is used in the bowl and adds to the colour scheme.

Beautiful candles add to the décor of any room and a beautiful candle holder compliments its beauty. There are various types of candle holders available such as metal candle holders, glass candle holders, solid brass candle holders with brass, brown or pewter finish, wooden candle holders, candle holders with antique finish and much more.

Candles Caring Tips

Candles in your house also need care just like anything else. There is nothing tricky in taking care of them and all you need to do is just follow some simple guidelines and use common sense. One important thing to keep in mind is to store them in dark, dry and cool place. To prevent warping, dinner candles and tapers must always be stored flat. Gently rub the surface of the candles to get rid of fingerprints and dust with a soft cloth. You can also moist the cloth a bit to wipe off.

There are some safety tips that must be kept in mind while lighting candles. Never burn a candle near anything that can catch fire. It is very important to keep the candles out of reach of pets and children. A good candle holder must be used to hold the candle and it must be kept of a heat-resistant surface. Too long wick can be a hazard so trim the wick before using.
